onThis alloy maintains the abrasion resistance of the 25% chrome alloy with increased toughness. This alloy is used for thicker section castings exposed to a high impact environment, such as in mining and crushing and in the Alberta Oil Sands. Castings poured with this alloy can be machined, but not drilled or tapped. Machining would be done for fit surfaces only. The increased amount of Mo improves the hardenability of the alloy as well, which is a benefit to thicker section castings. For further increased toughness use an ASTM A532 Class II Type B.
